2021, 35mm photo slides and wood, 24 x 26 inches
hailey’s father, tim, during his first hair cut.

gathered photographs from 1960 to 1970. in response to her senior sculpture course’s assignment to respond to the word “monument,” hailey writes:

my grandpa was a photographer. i am sure he still would be if his mind was focused and if his hands were still.
in my grandma’s basement thousands of these slides sit. they are among piles of forgotten and useless things. i do not know what will happen to them when she dies.
i am worried about these slides. my father’s life looks much more beautiful than i would of ever thought on my own.
i wish i could glue them all together.
i wish i could upload them all to facebook.
i wish i could play them through the eyes of my family members.
i will probaly just pack them all up and keep them in the basement that i imagine one day having.
